First time at the United Center

Bags, doors, food, the train, and what the seating pages do not say, for a Bulls or Blackhawks night. The rules below are from the arena FAQ and the CTA sports page, loaded for this guide. No ticket price is invented here.

Entry and gates

The United Center FAQ says doors for Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks games open 90 minutes before the event. It also says gates generally open 90 minutes prior, and that family shows may differ. Guests walk through metal detectors at all gates. Re-entry during an event is prohibited.

The FAQ says American Express card members, with a valid card and a valid ticket for everyone in the party, may use the American Express entrance. That entrance opens when the general doors open.

The arena is at 1901 W. Madison St., Chicago, IL 60612, on both the FAQ and the CTA sports page.

United Center FAQ

Bag policy

The FAQ says guests may enter with a small purse or personal bag up to 10 by 6 by 2 inches. Backpacks and other bags are not allowed. An exception is required medical equipment. A medical bag larger than that limit must be at least two-thirds filled with medical supplies, and it is searched.

Binbox lockers at the Uber Zone, Madison Street and Wood Street, are the only approved bag storage the FAQ names. Sensory bags can be checked out at Guest Relations inside Gates 2 and 6 on the 100 level, and at sections 221 and 325.

United Center FAQ

Food

The FAQ says outside food or beverages are not permitted, including alcohol, and that bottles and cans are prohibited. It says the arena is cashless for food, drink, and merchandise, and that it takes the named mobile wallets and credit or debit cards. It points to a dining page and the arena app for menu locations, including gluten-free, kosher, vegetarian, and vegan items. This page does not copy a menu or a concession price.

Cheapest sections

The Bulls seating page loaded as a diagram title and did not include a sentence naming a cheapest section. The Blackhawks seating chart groups the 100 level and the 300 level into tiers and does not print a dollar price. Neither page supports a cheapest-section claim, so none is named here.

Bulls Student Pass and Blackhawks Student Rush are the official low-cost programs already written up. Neither adds a dollar on this page. Buyer fees for the four apps are on ticket apps. No marketplace link is added here.

Getting there

CTA says the building is two blocks south and one block east of the Green Line Damen stop, and two blocks south and three blocks west of the Green and Pink Line Ashland/Lake stop. The Blue Line Illinois Medical District stop is a few blocks south. The short walk is the Damen Avenue exit, then north on Damen to Madison.

CTA also lists buses #9 Ashland, #19 United Center Express, #20 Madison, #50 Damen, and #126 Jackson. The CTA sports page does not list a Metra stop for the arena, so this page does not add one. Fares stay on the CTA guide.

Parking

The FAQ says official lots are reached from Damen Avenue, Madison Street, Adams Street, Warren Boulevard, Wood Street, Monroe Street, and Washington Street. The Uber Zone is at Madison and Wood, in Lot E. The FAQ does not print a lot price. The 2026–27 notes are on the parking guide.
